Shut Up And Dance Records Pioneering British breakbeat label, established by PJ and Smiley in London in 1989. In 1986, Smiley, PJ, Daddy Earl and DJ Hype formed a sound system called Heatwave and organized illegal raves with Smiley & PJ rapping. Unable to get a record deal, they started their own label, the name of which was taken from the title of one of the songs on their demo tape. Their first release was was sold from the boot of PJ’s car, before success brought expansion, a proper distribution deal and even number 2 in the UK singles chart with Raving I'm Raving. Warehouse Wax Warehouse Wax Records was started as a label dedicated to the revival of the early 90's sound of UK Hardcore but over the years evolved into a more upfront Breaks and Jungle label. The original idea to start the label was conceived by John (Vinyl Junkie) and Simon (Darkus) in 2002 and shortly afterwards they teamed up with the legendary Austin Reynolds of Suburban Base fame and recorded a few tracks which would eventually become wax 001. After the release of wax 002, Darkus decided it was time to leave and set up his own label leaving control of Warehouse Wax to Vinyl Junkie who still runs it today.
