We’ve now added a brand-new custom shoutbox to Serious About Sound.
This has been built specially for SAS to give the site a cleaner, faster and more modern place for members to chat. The old shoutbox did the job, but I wanted something that fitted the site better, looked cleaner, and was lighter in the background.
This new shoutbox has been worked on from the ground up around how SAS members actually use the site. It includes a cleaner layout, member avatars, clickable usernames, quick @ replies, reactions, online members, profile hover cards, staff moderation tools, and a smoother overall feel.
I’ve also added smart topic links, so when a topic from the site is posted in the shoutbox it can show as a clean clickable topic title instead of just a messy raw link. New topics from selected sections can also be announced in the shoutbox, making it easier for members to spot fresh content around the site.
The shoutbox has also been made to run lighter and more efficiently, so it should help keep things smooth without adding unnecessary load to the site.
A few reminders:
The shoutbox is for general chat only.
No requests in the shoutbox.
Requests should still be posted in the correct request section.
This is another custom improvement for SAS and something we can keep building on over time.
